How do I check out a Mobile Hotspot?
Visit SEPL’s Library of Things. Bring a Hotspot case to the Circulation Desk and sign a user agreement.
Who can check out a Mobile Hotspot?
A Mobile Hotspot may be borrowed by SEPL cardholders ages 18 and older whose accounts are in good standing.
How long can I keep a Mobile Hotspot?
You can borrow a Mobile Hotspot for 2 weeks.
Can I place a hold on a Mobile Hotspot?
A hold can be placed on a Mobile Hotspot by eligible SEPL cardholders in person or by calling the library. When you place a hold, you will be placed on a waiting list to receive the next available Mobile Hotspot. One (1) hotspot hold may be placed on a library card at a time.
Can I use the Mobile Hotspot outside the U.S.?
No, the Mobile Hotspot only works in the U.S.
Can I use the Mobile Hotspot to send/receive text messages?
No. Texting/SMS messaging is not available.
How do I return the Mobile Hotspot?
You must return the Hotspot inside the library with all the original packaging and accessories. Patrons are asked to fully charge the battery before returning the device.
Can I renew the Mobile Hotspot?
No. A Mobile Hotspot cannot be renewed. Please note: The wireless service on the hotspot will be turned off if the hotspot is not returned on the due date
How much does it cost to borrow a Mobile Hotspot?
There is no charge to borrow a Hotspot. If the device or any parts are missing when it is returned, a fee will be charged to your library account. Overdue fines are $1.00 per day. Full replacement cost is $75.00.
What information about my Internet usage, if any, is tracked by Seneca East Public Library?
Your Internet usage is not tracked by SEPL. SEPL does not have access to or collect usage data, and does not provide patron information to the service provider. The only data about the Mobile Hotspot lending program that SEPL collects is:
• The total amount of data transmitted and received by each device during a billing cycle.
• Anonymous circulation data related to checkouts of the Mobile Hotspot devices.
The mobile hotspot has prompted me to update the software. Should I do that?
Yes. The mobile hotspot periodically receives software updates from the service provider. You can go ahead and accept the update. The software upgrade process only takes a few minutes.
